Transitioning Hair Styles

No Heat Transition Hair Styles
Here are a couple of no heat styles that I did throughout my transition.

Roller Sets
1-5 months post relaxer
This style lasted a week for me and I sometimes extended it a week more with my head band.

Pros: My new growth was completely stretched and detangled
Cons: High manipulation style, I had to use a fine tooth comb or the tangle teezer to smooth out my hair

This style is good for 1-4 months post relaxer if you are type 4 and your hair does not straighten easily, like mine

You can add a head band to blend the two texture

Braid or Twist Outs
1-18+ months post relaxer
I used this style at every point of my transition and I sometimes wore it for two weeks before washing

Pros: Easy and quick to do
Cons: The difference in the two textures is clearly shown in this style and my new growth sometimes tangled; the style was inconsistent, it seemed like my twist outs/ braid outs came out different every time which was not always good
I used perm rods at the ends of my braid and twist outs to blend the two textures

Curlformers
1-18+ months post relaxer
This style last 3-7 days for me,  depending on the weather.

Pros: This is the only heatless style I wore that perfectly blended my new growth and my relaxed hair, the style came out the same every time
Cons: Hard to put in, at times, take longer to put in, expensive, may not last long, high manipulation style

Buns
1-18+ post relaxer

Pros: protective style, quick and easy to do
Cons: My hair sometimes became tangled when I did this style on wet hair, that was the only way I could stretch my hair and get smooth edges; I sometimes had a hump at the crown because I could not completely smooth my hair down

You can find pictures of the styles I wore during my transition on the video below
